KY Clerk, Kim Davis jailed for not providing gay marriage licence.

Governor Christie says give her another job. I am not sure how we would overcome the fact that the clerk is an elected official but other than that this is an excellent and immediate solution. We have always had conscientious objectors and we have always gave them other government jobs. This goes for the Muslim Stewardess that will not serve alcohol. She probably won’t serve pork either. Giving conscientious objectors another job is an excellent solution. However, we still will need to mandate a civil contract for all couples. It is not just religious fundamentalists that object to the redefinition of marriage by the Supreme Court. The private sector should take care of ceremonial and celebratory services. Businesses that have a conscientious objection to participating in gay marriages can affiliate those services with churches and do wedding services under the churches religious freedom umbrella. Tolerance is the key to protecting everyone’s first amendment and 14th amendment Constitutional rights. Our government never seems to find solutions and always seems to want to divide us, pitting one group against the other, these days.. As far as I know, DOMA is still on the books and Kentucky and many other states still define marriage as between a man and a woman. Maybe our law makers should do their job and comply with the Supreme Court.
